More on Cyprus from Britain's Financial Times: Turks and Greeks edging closer on Cyprus. There is definitely momentum, prompted from a number of quarters, including the European Union, Kofi Annan, and even Ankara. But there will be a lot of issues to sort out before anything like lasting unity can come about.
All the same, at this point I can't help but be optimistic, which is an uncharacteristic mood for me. The joyful reunions we've witnessed between Greeks and Turks in Cyprus seem to indicate that there is a general will to make things work. It's difficult to imagine the same scenes between Israelis and Palestinians.
